4.0 out of 5 stars Cracking Collection - but not original music, 21 Jan. 2011
This review is from: Wallace And Gromit The Complete Collection [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
The four excellent short adventures on one BD. Seeing the four together in HD you can see the development of technique, however the first stories are as clever and funny as ever.

Only one real complaint, the music in "The Wrong Trousers" has been changed. Both the birthday card and the Penguin's radio. Just sounds does not sound right with the new tunes.

Hi Marion,
Your review answered my question on the 'Replaced' bits of music!
Gromits birthday card now makes less sense than it did originally! And the music "How much is that doggy in the window", on Penguin's radio (I thought) was a real slap in the face for gromit, listening from afar!
The impact of the originals is now lessened, and I can't find out why...

Thanks for you review!
John

The answer is simple - copyright. It's just like why Malcolm in the Middle and The Wonder Years haven't been properly released on DVD. However, if The Wrong Trousers has the original music on the original DVD release I can't work out why it wouldn't on this Blu-Ray. I.e., if they stumped up the royalties back then, why not now? Bizarre and slightly depressing.

Hi Michael,
I had the VHS tapes of these with the original music. But the two tracks were replaced on Dvd...(Frowny face).
Just 'googled' Happy Birthday. AND spot on Sir...It is copyright(ed) and delivers about 2 Million dollars a year to Warners who own the copyright...SPOILSPORTS!!!

If it was copyright, then why is it on Wrong Trousers VHS, the music is allowed.

Good Point Tim...My guess would be; They paid for a time limited copyright which they didn't re-new for the Dvd release!!! Boooo I say!
