A Great Influence,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Painting Landscapes in Watercolour (Hardcover)
I bought Rowland Hilder's book on "Painting Landscapes in Watercolour" many years ago. I don't know what happened to my copy but was very pleased to find it for sale on Amazon. Rowland Hilder was one of my greatest influences in painting watercolours with Leslie Worth. I learned so much from Rowland Hilder and his straightforward but effective method of painting. I studied and copied many of his demonstrations and paintings and learned so much from his technique. I feel this book is a must for every budding watercolourist. This is the right way to learn art. His grey/blue skies and subtle use of earth colours and Indian ink, plus his great draughtsmanship, strong use of light and dark contrasts, his employment of light in his skies to light up his landscapes with atmosphere, all add up to a great artist who can inspire artists of all abilities to bring real feeling and that something extra to their pictures.
