I bought this book searching through all books on Amazon on music engraving. While it gave me some good insight to staff-sizes, part extraction and copying it is nothing compared to Elaine Gould's book 'Behind Bars' which I found a couple of weeks later. It is more expensive, but the only book that covers every aspect. Plus being from 2011 it is very up-to-date. 'The Essentials of Music Copying' is a fine book, but being old it's focus is a lot on physical manual copying and discusses the various old-fashioned ways of copying - pre computer. My advice is to save your money and buy 'Behind Bars' [...] you won't regret it.
