This review is from: Fred Sokolow: Blues Ukulele (Paperback)
I have other Sokolow books and found them very good, but I was not impressed by this one. The book has strumming arrangements of the tunes, plus solos, and it is the solos I felt let down by. Sokolow pretty much ignores the high G string on the ukulele, and does faux guitar solos on the other three strings. Which, for me, pretty much defeats the object of playing the uke. If you want to explore the possibilities of playing blues on a ukulele, you would be much better off buying Del Rey's Blue uke DVD. She uses all four strings, and finds a proper ukulele blues sound.
