1.0 out of 5 stars wasted opportunity again, 21 July 2013
This review is from: Bruce Lee Collection [DVD] (DVD)
Although it is good to see a new UK box set of Bruce Lee movies, I must ask a simple question....WHERE THE HELL IS THE BLU RAY BOX SET OF THESE MOVIES. After all I can purchase them form Amazon
Germany, Japan, The USA, France and many more, but no once again the UK market has been shafted re these titles. I have emailed E.ONE Entertainment on several occasions regarding any info but have not received any reply. With all respect who releases any new box set on DVD anyway considering that Shout Factory have an excellent box set due for release this August in the USA. The reason I have not included a review of each movie is simple if you are a fan you probably know every frame by now. PS All of the title have an incorrect screen ratio re the disc info {should read as 2.40.1}
So how about it E.ONE Entertainment is this yet another missed opportunity or did you like Warner Brothers just not give a damn about us long term fans or the products that you provide.

Before throwing so much hate just know the reasons... copyrights! If a deal is stuck to DVD then is more than normal that a blu-ray is not going to happen. If by some reason a deal was not stuck bear in mind that maybe it was not the distributors fault. If you so much despise the UK market for Bruce Lee then just go right ahead and order it from someplace else. Just because blu-ray is the hippest thing it doesn´t mean it the best thing. Everyone grew up watching this movies on VHS, then some on DVD, and now some on blu-ray. Many people from the VHS and DVD generation may want to upgrade, especially with today´s HDTV that force the older formats to be almost viewing obsolete. For the majority of Bruce Lee fans, an upgrade is in order, but until that happens, I´m completely happy with my Fortune Star box set for watching the movies and my HKL platinum set for the extras. At least, in all your nonsense rumble, you got one thin right about Warner, that is, if you were talking about their new version.

Re your reply to my hatred {which is nonsense}, I have been contacted by e.one entertainment in the last 30mins and they have confirmed that the deal was for dvd and blu ray distribution, but do not have any final date re there release at this time. {Thank you E.ONE}. Now you and I must get something straight, I do not hate anything or anyone. The reason for my posting was simply to highlight that we here in any part of the UK deserve and demand the same service as any other territory re any titles. I have been a fan of Martial Arts movies since the early 70's and of the Bruce Lee titles in particular. I agree that the HKL and Fortune Star titles are the best that have been released thus far here in the UK and I was referring to the 40th anniversary release of Enter The Dragon. I am however surprised and happy that I have hopefully started some ongoing discussion and look forward to any further replies. PS Did anyone else see the BBC Breakfast report regarding the 5 year long exhibition of all thing Bruce Lee which begins in Hong Kong this week, it would be nice to see this exhibition made available at other international locations in the future

Yours in anticipation
George Brannan

The 40th anniversary of Enter the Dragon is great,the remastered picture never looked better. I agree with wanting blu ray it is much better than dvd to produce the best picture possible.
As for the USA Shout!Factory release of the Bruce Lee legacy collection you are so wrong. The release has been pushed back 3 times already due to errors in labeling, but now we get the truth,sort of,that the blu rays were not true hd. Not only that but the complaints are plenty from the picture quality of the blu-rays,the mislabeling,the discs being very difficult to remove,some disc not playing at all,the price & the fact that the box set includes 11 discs,4 blu-rays & 7 dvds that no one really needs or wants.
At least in the UK you can buy the German box set which has the same hd transfers from fortune star as every other blu- ray released in the world. I needed to buy the Japanese blu-rays which were very expensive but worth it as the 2012 blu ray of game of death has the only non fortune star true hd transfer of the film. The fortune star transfer of game of death is a total fraud as it is not a true hd transfer but a ugly SD up-convert.

You do know these dvds are just the Hong Kong legends versions . And game of death is missing the second disk which is not even on the DVD . Its just the same versions as always

Hi Guys
Just a short add on to the discussion, I have now purchased the USA release the Bruce Lee box set {shout factory}. As we are now all very aware these titles have had there problems with regards to the earlier release, with labelling problems as well as the HD quality. Over all I am very happy with the newer release which is a considerable improvement form the first version. The only concern that I have is regarding Game Of Death, of which I am of the opinion that this could have looked better. However The Big Boss, Fist Of Fury & Way Of The Dragon are excellent re picture. As for the sound, well lets be honest it is not as if any source materials were the best from which to work with. The extra's are wonderful and contain several documentaries that I have not seen before. I suppose it would have been nice if shout factory and Warner Bros could have been able to allow for the inclusion of Enter The Dragon. As a fan who has come through the 16mm celluloid prints,VHS, laser Disc & DVD versions of these movies I have to say that I do not fore see any great improvement in the
future re these titles, but who know's what they will think of next to prize our hard earned cash from our pockets. Now I know that there will be contributors out there who disagree with my opinions but do remember: Its only my thoughts...not my demands
