Not entirely necessary reissue,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Bivouac (Audio CD)
First off, this is a great album- five stars easily. Whether it needed a reissue like this is another matter.
The artwork has been altered, and not for the better in my opinion. The mastering tweaked- again rather pointlessly. It doesn't seem to have really improved the sound quality, just made it very slightly different (on a good stereo too). I still haven't really made up my mind whether I prefer the original or not.
The bonus tracks? One has already been released on 'etc'. The other is an unreleased version of 'ache'. An awesome song which clearly benefited from waiting until the next album. Curiosity value only there. It could be argued that tagging bonus tracks onto an album that has such a clearly defined ending only cheapens it anyway.
I would still recommend Bivouac to anyone- it's an incredible piece of work, but I'm just not sure if all the tweaks do more to detract than anything else.
