signs of things to come...,
This review is from: Yesterday Went Too Soon (Audio CD)
I bought this after Echo Park and Comfort in Sound. Unsurprisingly, Yesterday Went Too Soon is not in the same league as Feeder's latest two albums but does provide a small dose of the quality which was to come from Grant's song writing. The best examples are Anaesthetic, Picture of Perfect Youth and the title song. The first two mentioned are great modern rock songs which stand out from the rest of the album, while Yesterday Went Too Soon is more of a lean towards pop music like that heard in Echo Park. After these songs the album continues with less inspiring but still melodic and enjoyable songs.
One strange thing I found was that the bonus track hidden 9 minutes into Paperface is actually an outstanding rock rendition which deserves a prominent postion in the album. With this nameless bonus track in the middle, the album would have been a lot more upbeat and probably deserved 4 stars.
