The premise for the books is interesting but then the execution lets it down. My greatest criticism though would be the characters relationships with food. All boys glory in their ability to eat whatever they want and remain slim and athletic while all girls are constantly described as eating rabbit food and salads and worrying constantly about their weight (even if the male characters insist not that they need to)... Male characters are introduced and described in terms of their personalities primarily and their role in the social group, where the girls are primarily described in terms of their looks, relative attractiveness and only secondarily in terms of their ability. The stories are set in the future, but the technology of the future is not always as you would expect even given the level of technology present at the time of writing and not always consistent with itself.
I generally like this sort of light frothy teen paranormal drama and always read the series before passing it on to my teenage stepson... In this case however I will not be recommending or passing this book on
