Overlooked side of Elvis,
This review is from: Raised On Rock (Audio CD)
So you want to hear a side of Elvis you've never heard before? If so, listen to this album. It's the only country/funk/gospel album he recorded in the 70's and it's wonderful. Lovely spare arrangements, fantastic muscianship and no horns or strings, just female vocals and a lovely funky sound.
This album has been so overlooked but IMHO it's just such a great example of what a great band can do in the studio even when the artist (Elvis) is not at his best.

Elvis' Grammy Award-winning album "He Touched Me" (1972) is a complete gospel/inspirational album. Other country/funky/soul/rock/gospel related Elvis albums from the 70's include "Good Times" (1974), "Promised Land" (1975) and "Elvis Today" (1975). And, of course, not forgetting the likes of the earlier "Elvis Country - I'm 10,000 Years Old" (1970) and "Love Letters from Elvis" (1971).
