I chose this book because I am a regular visitor to eastern Europe, engaged in research into the Stalinist period after 1945. The task carried out by the author is exhaustive and detailed, revealing the political guile of this monster of the 20th century and the apparent inability of the West, in particular the US, to combat his carefully planned strategy and duplicity. Otherwise, it's not light reading! ... but then, the times were not exactly joyful in Europe. The horrors and suffering of eastern Europeans are revealed. Very educational.
