Don't be put off by it's slow pacing. NOSFERATU THE VAMPYRE is a horror masterpiece that, in my opinion, is one of the best vampire films around. It is only loosely a re-make of the classic Murnau film, but Herzog's version is a beautiful, dark and forboding movie. Sinister without being cack-yer-pants scary. Bleak without being depressing and some memorable scenes, especially that of 'Gary Numan lookalike', Klaus Kinskis world-weary vampire. Many failed to see the stygian quality, there are some very atmospheric scenes and a wonderful soundtrack. The imagery is spectacular. I feel it would be wrong to dismiss this film as rubbish because it isn't. It is a melodramatic movie worthy of a viewing from film and horror fans. The dubbing isn't too bad and the cover art alone is just excellent. Miss this and it's your loss.
