Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Belkin Energy Saving Valet USB Charging Station (Accessory)
I purchased this as a way to have a permanent charging hub for all my gadgets, rather than switching cables out of my USB plug.
It comes with both a small micro USB and mini USB which is handy to charging small appliances such as bluetooth headsets.
The cable organising feature is almost useless. You wrap the wires around the gap in the middle, and then when happy with the length you sit it in the slit. There are 4 slits spread out between the front, back and sides.
The problem is, they don't really hold the cable, and since you will move the cable when plugging the device in, it will come out of the slit and move around. This negates the point of having them.
Also, as you wrap the cables around, if you have more than one, they can end up getting messy and too bulky, making them come out of the device and looking untidy.
When charging a device, it automatically stops charging after 4 hours. If you plug another device in, it starts the 4 hours again, or you can extend the time by pressing the green button. This feature is not really that great or useful, but is to supposedly try and save energy.
The top of the device, where you are supposed to rest device being charged, isn't that useful as the shape of it isn't great for modern phones. I tried a Nexus 4, an iPhone 5 and a HTC One, and none of them sat on it too nicely. One problem is because they charge on the bottom, the wire pulls the device away sometimes and just makes it sit awkwardly.
It's an okay product, but not great with too many faults.
I have since replaced it with a PortaPow 2.5A Quad USB Wall Charger with 3 Year Guarantee (UK Plug) and a Quirky Cordies Desktop Cord Clips and Anchor - Metal, which I feel works much better whilst taking up much less space.
