New York, 1966. Total improvisation - you will not encounter musicians stretching the boundary of listenability more. But, work at it - it's worth it. The heights of pure emotional intensity are extreme from both Coltrane and the screaming Pharoah Sanders. Backup from Alice Coltrane provides some sort of base. Jimmy Garrison's bass intro to My Favourite Things is just superlative, while Rashied Ali proves that drums ain't the instrument you thought they were at all. Sit back, open up, and fly Nice recording quality too.
