Customer Review

TOP 500 REVIEWERon 29 October 2012
At the time of writing, this 3-CD boxed set is the latest in a series of budget reissues under the somewhat misleading blanket title of Sweethearts & Stolen Kisses. The first two CDs cover quite a wide variety, including Chris Barber, Acker Bilk, Dave Brubeck, Russ Conway, Miles Davis, Duane Eddy, Billy May, and Arthur Lyman, plus a number of less famous musicians from the late fifties/early sixties (tracklist information is minimal). The third CD is concentrated more on light orchestral works, including several movie themes, by such as Percy Faith, Bert Kampfaert, and Perez Prado. It may be nitpicking to say so, but not all of the 75 tracks are instrumentals (for example Acker Bilk sings "Buona Sera"), and several tracks lack musical development, and merely sound repetitive. So despite the brilliant sound quality I've reluctantly withheld a fifth star.
