I once read that the teaming up of Roland Kirk and Al Hibbler on this recording produced a "surreal album". In a way, that is true because Al Hibbler's vocal style will not be to everyones taste. He bends and distorts notes and words wonderfully. Kirks playing is glorious and the rhythm section swings like mad. Hank Jones, Ron Carter & Oliver Jackson know EXACTLY what to do. The three instrumental tracks (6,7,8,)are superb. The only reason to give this 4 instead of 5 stars is the Leon Thomas track "Dream". This is not up to the standard of the rest of the album. The rest of the album is 5 star and no mistake.
