Whilst this book and the author were greatly recommended to me, I cannot and would not recommend it to others. It is for starters written primarily for others in the medical profession, in a rambling, non-coherent manner and frequently quite derogatory about patients as doctors often are when addressing others in the profession. It does not provide readers with any practical advice or help, they could frankly find much better, more relevant, up to date and freely accessible information online and it is essentially an anecdotal rambling essay on a few of the authors experiences with thyroid patients as can be immediately ascertained from it's rather cumbersome title.
It did not help me in any way or any of the many others who I have met since who have sought to track it down, believing from the hype that it will be the answer to their prayers. It is in fact in my experience usually the first disappointing book people buy before graduating on to decidedly more helpful and up to date books. My advice would be don't fall for the hype and don't bother wasting your time and money trying to track this book down as I did as you WILL be disappointed. Sometimes there is a good reason why a book is unavailable and in this case it isn't because it's so popular they can't print them fast enough.
Instead I would highly recommend anyone seeking help with a thyroid and/or adrenal issue buy decidedly more helpful books that are clearly written with patients in mind such as Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy: The Great Thyroid Scandal and How to Survive it a brilliant book full of understanding and helpful advice written by a Doctor who has suffered the effects of this condition for himself and clearly has a much greater and more sympathic understanding of it, or Stop the Thyroid Madness: A Patient Revolution Against Decades of Inferior Treatment another wonderful book also written by a highly knowledgeable hypothyroid sufferer that is also packed full of helpful, caring and understanding practical advice. Both of these books are current, up to date with the latest treatments and information, full of actually helpful practical advice and fully intended to be helpful to the patient. THEY will set you on your way to recovery, in a caring, sympathetic and highly practical way, something that this book totally fails to do and you can now buy them both together for not much more than the price of this much overhyped elongated essay.
