I first heard a track from Transatlantic Sessions on the radio just over a year ago which prompted me to buy this album. It was John Martyn's version of Spencer The Rover - a knockout and a collector's item if ever there was one. But the other 17 tracks by various artistes are superb as well. There's such an eclectic mix of folk and country in both instrumental and song and it was a delight to discover Emmylou Harris singing the classic Beatles number For No One. The fiddle playing on all the instrumentals is second to none and it was a real find to come across Dougie MacLean's This Love Will Carry. There's also no better way to round off this album than with Dick Gaughan's rendition of Wild Mountain Time! Since then I've gone and bought all the other albums in the series and thoroughly enjoy everyone.
