Customer Review

on 13 July 2014
Top marks for creating a slightly off centre psycho- horror with a wonderful pivotal performance by Barbara Steele. Coming across as a creepy English version of Baby Jane, she is the butterfly collector and unhinged lady in the tenement block offing all those who get in her way. Having traumatised her own daughter and mentally scarred her she yearns for another chance to bring up a daughter. Problem is she is postal and has a butterfly room full of chloroform and other nasty preservative materials

The film relies on perpetual flash backs to tell the story but the plot is easy to follow. Ray Wise pops up as the apartment block janitor reiterating a Lynch influence on proceedings. The dvd has been reissued by Anchor Bay. A B movie horror gem.
