This review is from: A Lifetime Burning (Paperback)
I loved Linda Gillard's first book, Emotional Geology. It was well written, evocative and moving. But in A Lifetime Burning she has moved her writing up several gears. This is a multi-layered story with complex characters whose problems we live through every step of the way.
Twins Flora and Rory are beautifully drawn from the moment they walk onto the page as toddlers and the twists and turns of their relationship over the years, while hardly predictable, are utterly believable.
How can a book about such difficult themes be so absorbing and easy to read?
This is fabulous writing. Tell your friends.
