This review is from: The Anglo-Saxon World (Hardcover)
This book provides a chronological description of developments in Anglo Saxon Britain from Roman times to the Norman invasion. Each chapter covers the developments in religion, politics, administration, agriculture and trade based on contemporary records and archaeological finds. Each is followed by sections dealing with supplementary information relevant to the period of that chapter. The book is well written and supported by numerous colour illustrations. However I did find the book was too detailed to hold the interest of the layman such as myself especially the early chapters dealing with early Saxon times when records are almost entirely those of Bede and therefore somewhat inconclusive and where the amount of detail in the book on the archaeology is substantial. I felt then that this book will be of more interest to the academic or serious student.

Fata Morgana says:
BEWARE!

Here on Amazon, "fisherman" is a self confessed liar.

He / she has admitted to this fact about him / herself, on at least two separate posts that I know of, both of which are book reviews.

By "fisherman" 's own admission this memeber has chosen not to read these two books, yet chosen to "review" them, and both reviews were damaging, negative & unpleasant, all of which then sparked further Amazon Community comments. Unsurprisingly, other memebers poured scorn & indignation upon "fisherman"'s comments.

It is unclear why "fisherman" behaves in this manner.

As such, his / her ability to review anything within this Amazon Community is, I would offer up to you, fatally compromised & thus a complete waste of further consideration.

"...this review is based on a book that I have not actually read!"
&
"Of course I haven't read the book..."
