I bought this at the same time as Icon which makes a nice companion as many of the finished works in Icon are shown in sketch form here. The illustrations vary from doodles all the way to painted 'dry runs' for the final production. Frazetta's roughs are often superior to other artists' finished works. My mark of four is not a reflection on the quality of illustration, rather the lost mark is because of how the book has been made. The book is quite small and bizarrely has a front cover showing a part detail of a final painting rather than a 'rough'. The padded cover seems to be trying to make the book bigger than it actually is. I think the book was intended to come across as a small sketch book, but doesn't quite work. The contents themselves are excellent - even Frazetta's signature is a work of art!
