This review is from: Apple Box Set (Audio CD)
as an avid Apple collector since the late 60s, i was really looking forward to receiving this box set.
Unforunately, the 'box' is nothing more than a flimsy thin cardboard carton with a tuck in lid, which will tear very easily..........i was expecting a rigid card box. poor compared with the lavish lennon signature box.
Not easy to remove a single cd for fear of tearing...easier to tip them all out
However, the mini albums are all very nice, each complete with informative booklets, and the extras discs are great.

i was thinking of buying this - in the zoom it looks like a thick booklet is included - is this the case or merely the double cd of extras?

I saw this in a certain megastore yesterday (Monday 25th day of release) for a mere £200 - and I couldn't believe the box set in my hand - a flimsy card sleeve that was already buckling under the shrinkwrap!
It does have all 16 of the digipak albums and the 17th is the new "Come And Get It" Best Of (which has many exclusive 7" single tracks) - but it's piss-poor in terms of presentation.
Having said that, I do want at least 10 of the albums and the Amazon price is a full £50 cheaper (and with Prime) - no P&P. I can't but imagine that after a few weeks, this weedy little set will plummet in price...

You don't know how lucky you are boys....back in the U, U, U UK! Due to EMI & Apple's last minute decision to offer a box set(and create an exclusive 2-CD compilation of what were previously to be download-only tracks), there was no time to get the digital masters & artwork to EMI's overseas affiliates so that EMI's foreign affiliates could manufacture their own pressings for release simultaneous with the UK release, so EMI's overseas affiliates are(at least initially) importing the UK set, the result being that the price outside of the Uk is 50% higher than the set's Uk selling price, so as a result, many Americans(such as myself) are having the set sent from amazon.co.uk
You'll note that neither EMI or Apple ever officially announced the box set. I'm assuming that there will be no promotion or advertising for the box until there are adequate quantities to satisfy demand, and until the foreign affiliates have manufactured their own pressings, so that the selling price outside the Uk will be within reason.
UPDATE:Apple Records website finally did start to show the box set.....two days after its' release.
