The mutant crossover of the century,
This review is from: X-Men: Messiah Complex TPB (Paperback)
After M-Day, the world's population of mutants went from the millions to barely numbering in the hundreds, and instead of the usual credo of fighting to protect a world that hates and fears them, all the X-Men are focused on right now is the simple survival of their species. Messiah Complex tells of the first mutant to appear since M-Day and despite being just a baby, is the prize of everyone who wants to see the mutant race continue or be destroyed forever.
Messiah Complex is a great book, a crossover event that features the X-Men, New X-Men, Xavier, Cable, X-Factor Investigations, Sinister and the Marauders, the Purifiers and Predator X, and it perfectly captures the desperation of all factions as they struggle for control of the child that could be the salvation of the dying mutant race. To do this whilst keeping the action flowing and the lulls in combat tense, is a great feat of art and story telling, and the story spans from the present to possible futures to illustrate the high stakes.
After cleaning up the X-Men universe of all the surplus mutants, Messiah Complex reignites the frantic pace of the mutant race just trying to survive in a world that becomes increasingly harder to live in. This is a great product for all X-Men fans, it brings the series back to its roots and with countless cameos, it is a great read.
I highly recommend.
