This review is from: Kill List [DVD] (DVD)
I bought this on the basis of Mark Kermode's including it in his top 10 films of the year (after his rave review of the pretentious borefest that was The Assassination of Jesse James... I guess I should have known better). What a let down. Tiresome, unlikeable characters wander through a disjointed and derivative script which ultimately makes no sense at all. Any original ideas are swiftly lost in a mass of movie clichés - the buddy hitmen from Pulp Fiction, the bit of gratuitous torture porn, the hanged cat from Straw Dogs, the occult absurdities of The Wicker Man. The ending makes no sense at all and the final incomprehensible twist can be seen a mile off.
