Customer Review

on 4 January 2011
The software for this unit is still being developed it seems, I've received two updates since purchasing it in July, and it's not much better.

The whole unit crashes if you pause or rewind a show as you're recording it, requiring a full reboot.

The unit does not output proper Dolby 5.1, it only outputs L&R leaving the centre and rear channels silent. (I understand many programmes are broadcast in Dolby 2.0, but some are 5.1 and the Philips cannot cope with it. The support website mentions this)

All up, the whole unit is buggy and very much a Beta version, which is shameful seeing that it's been out for about 9 months or so.

The reason I'm writing this now is because it's just crashed hard during the recording of a show I worked on, which means in the morning the show will have an exclaimation mark next to it, indicating there was a "problem recording, cannot play", and I won't be able to share my televisual endeavours with my family.

So am I am bitter, yes.
