... I couldn't put it down. So, a vast historical novel based on the mongol empire wouldn't normally be my chosen genre (not nearly enough material for good jokes). However, having had it enthusiastically recommend to me (thanks Jules) I instantly got sucked in. Characters of real depth and breadth and a landscape pictured so vividly you can feel the wind on your face. Other reviews have majored on the historical accuracy and the integrity of the authors research. I'm not qualified to comment on either of these but the end result has a solidity and believability (is that a real word?) that draws you ever onwards to just one more page. Such writing only comes from someone who has invested themselves body and soul in a piece of work and the author's enthusiasm and commitment shines out through every page.
Others have written more eloquently than I can on the subject matter so I urge you to seek these out on Amazon.com and Smashwords.com. More importantly you should read the book.
