I can't give a technical review because I'm not qualified. This camera was bought to give me more control over my pictures than my Canon Ixus 900 Ti does and it does just that. You have to read the instruction manual otherwise the pictures are disappointing because you're on the wrong setting. The zoom lens has allowed me to frame some interesting shots that were impossible before. I've taken good moonlight photographs and had a sunrise photo used on the TV weather forecast. The body is plastic but it keeps the weight down and I find the camera sits nicely in the hand when taking a photo (I did handle the other cameras in this class but found the Canon the most comfortable - easiest to grip firmly). Strangely, I haven't used the video mode yet. The flash unit catches on the new camera bag as I put the camera away (with the tripod "adapter" still on the camera) and I worry that I may damage it. You will need a tripod for the zoomed in photos. Disappointing thing - you need to buy the Canon adapter if you want to fit a filter (to protect the lens if nothing else) and it costs a fortune for a plastic ring! You will need to buy a decent camera bag and a spare battery (the first one I bought had to be sent back - beware). The camera strap supplied is too narrow. Overall I love using the camera and I am very pleased with the results.
