Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Philips HQ6990 electric Shaver (Personal Care)
I really hate wasting money, even if it is only 36 quid. I bought this shaver because I left the power cord for my perfectly good Wahl shaver (which cost about £25) at my mother's house. I read a few reviews which complained that this shaver was underpowered, but I liked the look of it, and as it's made by Philips I thought it couldn't be bad. That a mistake. When I first used it, it was so underpowered that I thought it hadn't charged properly. But even when it's connected to the mains it remains dull and feint and completely ineffective. This means that shaving takes at least twice as long as it did with the Wahl. What's worse is that it leaves big red blotches on your neck which last the whole day. Philips even know that it does this and they tell you to shave the sensitive skin first with the shaver cold as the rash is less likely to occur then. And they tell you to persevere for a couple of weeks as your skin supposedly gets used to the shaver. Complete nonsense. I've had it for over 6 weeks and I still get the big red and painful blotches. I'm really disappointed with this shaver and would love to return it, but it does have one redeeming aspect: the power cord fits perfectly into my old Wahl shaver - happy days! I love Amazon and have bought loads of stuff from them but from this experience and another I have learnt that it's very important to pay attention to the negative comments left in the reviews of others. People don't leave negative comments because they're spiteful or bored. Often their complaints are very justified.

If you left the power cord at your mothers why didn't you just get her to post it out to you?

Sorry to say its got to be your fault. Or youve stupidly sensitive skin. Or youre pressing to hard. This is the latest in a long line of Philishaves Ive purchased and its my best shaver ever. Im only a bit depressed you may have put a buyer off the best shaver they'll ever own.

You misspelled "too". Seriously, if you want a decent shaver get the Panasonic ES-RT51. I've had mine since about when I wrote this review. I don't think I'll be replacing it with a long line of other Panasonic shavers, because it still works as well as it did the day I bought it.
