The rift that drew me into Fantasy for the very first time..,

This review is from: Magician: 1 (Riftwar Saga) (Paperback)
With the exception of Tolkien's the Hobbit, which was both essential, and compulsory reading whilst at school (and later paved the way for a journey into more 'grown-up' fantasy through the Lord of the Rings), I have never read a book that captures the reader so completely. I was loaned the original work by my cousin as a young boy and was instantly drawn into the world that Feist creates. I read the whole book in two and a half days, and was immediately knocking on my cousin's door for the rest of the trilogy. I have read so very many great fantasy books since then by many different authors, but this book was the very catalyst, or if I may borrow Feist's invention, 'rift' that drew me into the wonderful world of fantasy literature... Feist is truly to be ranked alongside Tolkien as one of the founding masters of Fantasy... This is the book that invents it all!
