Customer Review

on 25 January 2000
In England, Henry Green is regarded as one of the greatest novelists of the century - he writes down exactly how people talk in real life, not how they talk in books. (The man who complains about his characters sounding academic or snobbish ought to get out more - they just don't sound like Americans, which isn't all that surprising). Poetic truth, the most perfect and graceful sentences in English fiction, surprising grandeur - anyone with an open mind who cares about the novel who doesn't know these great books is in for a treat.
