This review is from: Under Another Sky: Journeys in Roman Britain (Hardcover)
The author takes the reader on a journey through the landscapes of Roman Britain talking about history and society en route. Each place is covered in one chapter so it is very easy to read one chapter, take a break and then move on to another place. I was particularly interested in the chapter on Hadrian's Wall where we have been walking bit by bit over the last couple of years, nothing in comparison to William Hutton (in 1801 at the age of 78, and he walked there and back from Birmingham...). Lovely present for anyone interested in history, archaeology, and understanding a little more about the landscape around us. Lots of references, well written, and an enjoyable read.
