I bought this bought the other week and couldn't wait to get baking!
The photographs are fabulous, the recipes are mouth-watering. The text is easy to read when you can't find your specs, instructions are clear and concise. I've made the most glamorous cake in the book for a supper party - the Chocolate Genoise Royale. I did my prep, read the instructions through to the end and got started. Just after popping the genoise sponge base in the oven I realised that I hadn't stirred in the melted butter - no matter, the sponge was perfect. I was concerned about the missing buttery moisture so I soaked my sponge base in cherry syrup diluted with Kirschwasser. I now have a beautifully impressive gateau to serve to friends & family, that was simple to bake and, apart from overnight setting time, very quick too.
Immodestly, I'm a very experienced cook but I would recommend this book to beginners too. There's a recipe for everyone in this inspiring well thought out book.
Grab an apron and go for it!
