training not technique!,
This review is from: The Modern Swordsman: Realistic Training for Serious Self-defense (Paperback)
As some other reviewers have stated, this book is about training rather than techniques. This is a manual about building strength, dexterity and accuracy rather than learning different techniques for fencing or what other sword art you practise.
As with some of the other reviews, I agree that this manual is not geared towards any particular style.
The illustrations are not fantastic but I found them more than good enough to see what was being taught.
The best part of this book has to be the numerous ideas for making training equipment.
The author has listed numerous things that could be easily made out of every day items. These training aides and drills will also work for knife and stick fighting as previously mentioned by others. No I'm not some nut who runs around with a sword when I'm out in the streets, but I do some times carry a walking stick or use a machete in the garden. Who knows when you may be attacked.
