Missing very relevant bits....,
This review is from: Sometimes My Brother: Helping Kids Understand Autism Through a Sibling's Eyes (Paperback)
I got this for my 5 year old daughter who's 4 year old brother has high functioning autism. I found it mainly well written in relation to language, but missing important bits like how he sometimes lashes out, has difficultty sharing, and seems to get away with more. Overall although all autistic children are different, it seemed to be missing big common aspects of behaviour which I felt needed to be included for the book to be meaningful or useful. It is too specifically written on the child it was based on for it to be generalised and helpful to different children. I would prefer to recommend the book 'My brother is different' by the National Autistic Society which my daughter responded really well to and asks for it to be read again and again My Brother is Different: A Book for Young Children Who Have a Brother or Sister with Autism.
Overall I'd say anyone thinking of buying this needs to see a copy first to see if it is relevant. For me it was a waste of money.
