I've just finished reading this book and I find myself a little disappointed - though it was an entertaining read and made me feel very nostalgic for the older books in the series.
As usual, the author has done a remarkable job of bringing the characters to life with a strong plot - he was by far my favourite author of the X-Wing Series.
I just can't seem to connect with the new characters and find the old characters (Face in particular) have been relegated to a supporting role. When the fates of a handful of the older Wraiths are revealed and a few appear in cameo appearances I felt genuinely happy/sad, but as for the newer members... well... I just didn't care!!
Also, it's important that you've kept up to date with the novels as there are numerous references in this book that will confuse matters if you haven't.
Perhaps I just started the reading the book with high expectations after reading the older novels... forgetting that some of the characters are now over fifty years old. Maybe the NEW Wraith Squadron will grow on me.
I hope they get another novel to do that.
