As expected from Lo Scarabeo the quality of the cards is wonderful. They shuffle well and seem to glide over each other.
I bought these cards for my 7 year old nephew who has a Rider Waite Smith mini Tarot Deck, but is frightened with the Devil card. He loves the Devil in Tarot of the Pirates and is not frightened by it. I too like these cards now that I have seen them in the flesh, so to speak.
The pictures are within a light aquamarine coloured border which is easy on the eye, in fact peaceful comes to mind. I also like the card reverse sides which are reminiscent of waves, going nicely with the high seas theme of the deck.
There are plenty of pirates and scenarios on all 78 cards in the deck. The Minor Arcana suits are Wands (depicted by oars) Chalices (barrels) Swords (Swords and daggers) and Pentacles (coins) which tie in nicely. An example of one of the trump cards, The Chariot is a Pirate riding the waves on the backs of two large turtles, 1 of them a light green colour and the other brown and black. It does seem a bit silly, but again a nice twist on the Rider deck.
