Great work from Sony!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Sony L Series 24" Desktop Ci5 Processor 8GB RAM 1TB HDD - Black (Personal Computers)
This is my first ever review.
From opening the box, everything seemed high quality, and very well built. I'm loving the feel of the keyboard (both wireless with the mouse of course) before you start using the mouse and keyboard, you need to insert their receiver. Sony were smart to include a hidden 7th usb (behind the back cover) for the receiver so that a) it doesn't get lost easily, and b) so that you don't use any of the given 6 usb on the desktop.
The screen is really good, in terms of size and picture quality, and the specs on this pc combined with windows 8 make everything work very smoothly and fast. The surround sound is amazing, I don't mean to sound biased, but I seriously felt I was in the theatre watching an action movie. You need to use the remote control to go into "options" and activate all the surround sound features. If it wasn't for my neighbours I would have watched the entire movie on max volume.
Things I did not like:
1) My previous laptops allowed me to partition the C drive to only have 150GB and the remaining space I'd allocate to a D drive. I was used to making 150GB for C and around 800GB for D. This PC however, does not allow you to shrink the C drive less than 450GB. So now my D drive is smaller than I'm used to. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning for people who partition their drive.
2) I don't know yet if this is a fault or not, but Vaio update is not working until now (only received it yesterday). Every time I launch it I get a message that says "Vaio update does not recognise your Vaio". I will keep trying and see what happens, I will also try to contact Sony support before I consider replacing this PC.
3) This may be related to the Vaio update issue, but the TV is not completing it's set-up. One of the reasons I bought this PC is to make my TV and PC one. So if I manage to sort out the Vaio update issue and the TV still doesn't work then I will definitely replace it.
These 3 points are why I gave it 4 stars, but other than that, it's really good and very fast.
There's a £400 between this model and the other model, here are the only differences between both;
A) Hard drive: 1TB with i5 processor vs 2TB with i7 processor
B) 3D screen.
But screen quality, sound, graphics, RAM and everything else is the same. So buy this model and save £400 if you do not need the 3D screen and the additional 1TB (you can always buy an external 1tb hard drive for £50-60).
As for the i5 vs i7, I have used quite a few laptops in the past month, and personally (and only based on my use) I don't see that much of a difference.

Sony L Series 24" Desktop Ci5 Processor 8GB RAM 1TB HDD - Black How are you getting on with windows 8, only I've been advised it aint all that, I too have a previous model which is great and running windows 7, I would love this new Sony, but are reluctant to buy because of bad reports about windows 8.

To be honest, windows 8 is the type of thing which you can say "hate it or love it".
I was from those who dreaded the thought of windows 8, and I was looking to buying this new pc, but downgrading it to windows 7. However, once I bought it, it really only took me less than an hour to fall in love with windows 8. From speed, to commands, everything is just so smooth. That's not to say you will love it too. But I suggest you go to a pc store and play around with win 8 for a bit, ask staff for tips and quick steps that makes your life easier. After the demo you can decide for yourself.
All the best

Does the i5 model that you purchased actually have the 640m graphics as advertised here or is it the 620m available everywhere else.

I don't really remember which graphics it had. I returned mine eventually as there was a fault in the TV setup menu. I didn't replace it with the same model
