1.0 out of 5 stars Celebrating British creativity, 27 July 2012
This review is from: Olympic Mascots Wenlock Policeman Soft Toy (Toy)
Delighted to see the Olympics genuinely celebrates all aspects of British culture and not just sport! I had been becoming concerned that the event would be nothing but a commercial piggyfest dominated by controversial sponsors gaining all the limelight while only footing 8 percent of the bill, while the glorious creative past of the country was ignored. So I was impressed to see Olympic organisers giving due respect to our most loved author AND television characters spanning 40 years in one cuddly toy! Although he's clearly not aimed at small children or nervous adults, Wenlock's charismatic blend of Dixon of Dock Green, The Tellytubbies and JRR Tolkien's Dark Lord "Sauron" show modern British creativity at it's best and should bring a tear or two to the eye of all but the most hardened Philistine. The adult themed Bart/Lisa logo may have put LOCOG on the back foot, but this collectors item is a genuine triumph and a really fitting way to remember the Olympics!

Again, more diatribe. It is a toy. This is not a review. Why buy it in the first place?

@Mackem73,

Perhaps Amazon are more relaxed about satire than you are? You should be grateful, since the same relaxed attitude that allows us to satirise the police & olympics allows you to disparage as "idiots" those who do not share your views.
