Customer Review

on 12 January 2004
This is a classic piece of high quality '80's stylie rock'n'roll, featuring 2 top class musicians; why it never took off like it was supposed to is a mystery. Pat Thrall played in the Pat Travers Band, and was universally admired as a guitar player of real skill and quality - funky, Jazzy, fast & fluid with an ear for melody and texture. Glenn Hughes was probabnly the best singer Deep Purple ever had and a pretty mean Bass player to boot; add top session drummers Gary Ferguson and Gary Mallaber, production by Andy Johns (of Free fame) and it all looks so good. And it is! Really good songs, great production, and a real classic. Then Hughes cocaine habit took control and the whole thing imploded. What a shame! Thrall is great (still!), Hughes has sort of rebuilt his reputation, despite his disastrous flirtation with Black Sabbath but you can't help wondering what might have been if they'd been able to build on this belting album.
