A new excuse to watch a classic,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Predator (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) (Blu-ray)
Okay - I would agree with a previous reviewer that some scenes look a little waxy, with most of the movie looking crisper and more vibrant than ever.
In addition, the 3D is also slightly inconsistent with the occasional scene looking downright 'weird'.
Fortunately however many other scenes provide an element of depth which for me at least highlighted details I had previously missed.
Is is a cash-grab?
Of course it is, but then again, Predator was never going to get the same amount of investment in respect of the 3D conversion as better known blockbusters such as Titanic or Jurassic Park, but fortunately it would seem it has received far more care and attention than the 8-week bodge-job that was Clash of the Titans.
I think ultimately Fox are onto a good thing, and for movies that are not going to claw back big bucks, the short-cut route provided by JVCs ever-improving conversion system makes for a reasonable compromise.
So maybe I'm a sucker for gimmicks, but as my review title says - it gave me a new excuse to watch one of my all-time favorite movies.
My opinion? If you own a 3D TV and consider Predator a classic movie then go for it!
