a great series! shame about the dvds,
This review is from: Spooks : Complete BBC Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
I have to say that is a great great series! its filled with relay intense and varied episodes!
The way that you see development of characters is very well done and the way that it all feels very realistic is much better than the latest few series (8 and 9) as they feel like a team of super hero's saving the day every time, where this series is much more human and true to life!
However i felt that the way the dvd were produced let them down at bit. As none of the dvd were numbered you never knew exactly which episodes you had on each disc and I, personally, got very confused.
Also the navigation menus were quite hard to navigate and the intro to that get repetitive with the same bit of video every time you play the dvd!
but over all a great piece of tv, just not such good dvds!

The series was great - the dvds are appalling: the lengthy introduction, the episodes not in sequence, the "clever" but baffling menu system for the extras has to be worked out by the viewer, and on my set many of the extras simply do not work. Somebody was trying to be too clever by half - and whoever designed and produced the dvds made a thorough dog's breakfast of it.

Totally agree. The navigation is a complete nightmare. Too clever by half in indeed. Unless you know how to select an episode on your DVD remote, you get stuck in the 7th circle of hell watching a man in a mask breaking into an office. Even when you do work out how to navigate, using the up/down/side-to-side cursor on the remote (you 'pick' a DVD from a rack- that's the key), there's no indication what episode you're selecting and if you get it wrong, back to the start. In fact, even though I reckoned I'd got the hang of the episode selection, I still find it hit and miss. A pain in the neck, totally unnecessary and has put me off watching the series.
