There's a lot to be said for this, a VAST improvement on ACIII, but how can they make the same mistakes? It's says in the blurb that the controls are better, but he can't pass a ladder without running up it. Out of the hundreds of times I've jumped off the Jackdaw, only 3 times has he not stopped to grab the ropes, perch on the cannon, or run down to the main deck. Every boarding action I have CAREFULLY approach the swivel gun, because he'll jump on top of it rather than grab it. And in the middle of trying to kill all those sailors using a smoke bomb he'll march around flexing his muscles, but not actually DOING anything.
The dialogue is way, way improved, and the acting is way, way better, but we still launch off into this paranormal twaddle three quarters of the way through. There's none of the HOURS of 'ancient race' malarky that was an hour's worth of boredom in III, but it's still in there, and just as tedious. And the abstergo levels look like an 8 year-old was given 80's technology to invent these levels, nonsense and drivel all the way through. And disappointing puzzles. As if we need this stuff anyway.
Don't bother. Or better yet buy second hand - don't let Ubisoft have any more of your money. And that's another thing, if you buy used your ubisoft code isn't going to work, and anyway you have to BUY extra content - really annoying that the final upgrades are gonna cost you.....
