This is a brilliant product. As a writer myself, I love to simply pick them up, flick my wrist and write an actual story that includes all nine pictures. Sometimes I use them as chapter titles, or the focus of a chapter/section, and sometimes just as a thing to appear in the part that I'm working on, but every time I do use them, I get a fun result.
Despite the fact that some combinations can be a little random at times (what can a guy really do when he has a sheep, a bee and a torch?), it actually depends upon your interpretation of the pictures as to what can be done with them. For example, the picture of the crashing rocket could be taken for a crash, a UFO or a missile strike (that last one was a friend's suggestion - I'm not that crazy). Making up alternative ways to include the symbols is unusually entertaining.
With so many pictures and combinations available, it's really easy to have fun with the Cubes and seed an amazing idea all at once. If you're a parent, get them for your kids. they may not be quite as educational as, say, an encyclopedia, but they do help kids to make obscure links. If you're an adult, get them for yourself. Apart from anything else, they make a funny noise when you bash them together. (I'm not kidding. The clacking sound is really quite satisfying. Heheh.) But they really are excellent.
In short, they make a great toy, a fantastic tool and are genuinely excellent. Buy them fast, before they relise they can increase the price!
