With the Original Soundtrack, 10CC seemed to be in danger of disappearing up their own exhaust. Perhaps the ideas were wearing a bit thin. Perhaps they were struggling to find impish dazzling lyrics. So in answer to any problems they came up with a bit of overblown theatre in Une Nuit A Paris and then followed it with their most loved piece I'm Not in Love.
I have never been a fan of the latter but can see understand the clever way in which this piece of mood music has been put together. I do like Brand New Day but Life is a Ministrone is contrived with that awful line "death is a cold lasagne suspended in deep freeze. The Film of My Love is an enjoyable music hall style piece and the album wraps up with the very laid back Good News. For all that there is something missing from this album and I've never quite been able to put my finger on just what.

There is nothing missing from this album, it is pure, pop brilliance, it's just that you clearly lack the perception to hear it !

That is your opinion which you are perfectly entitled to as I am to mine. To suggest that I lack perception is just an unfounded attack. Ask 100 people what they think of this album and views would be entirely split- as they will be for any album in the entire history of popular music. The important thing is to respect people's views and not attack them for holding those views.

As you say, Peter, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. For me, this album has some wonderful high spots with 'The Second Sitting For The Last Supper' and 'Flying Junk' surely rating in any list of classic 10cc tracks. 'Une Nuit A Paris' is superb as is 'Blackmail'; I agree that 'Brand New Day' is lovely but 'Life Is A Minestrone' is O.K.

Oh. Tosh. Now if you were discussing the Iraq war or the risks arising from the appalling and worsening levels of social inequality, I might understand the passion - but 10CC? Please!
