Customer Review

on 20 January 2012
Donald Sutherland stars as artist Gauguin in this movie which also features Max von Sydow as Swedish August Strindberg. Shot in 1986 this film seems very authentic in it's portrayal of Gauguin who is in France but has a longing to return to Tahiti.
The film is just over 90 minutes long and is mainly in English. There are a few scenes in Danish in Copenhagen which are supported by English subtitles.
Sutherland is extremely believable as Gauguin and seems to have performed admirably in his scenes with Sofie Gråbøl (star of The Killing - Series 1 [DVD] [2010]) in her first film role. Sofie stars as the young housegirl who models nude for Gauguin.
A film for any fan of a decent arts film and anyone in search of some of one of Sofie's more alluring roles among her extensive work.
A rare gem!
