Grilling food in my conventional oven is a hassle, repeatedly bending down to check, trying not to burn my fingers when taking out the food to check if it's done or turn it over. And having to warn my 4 year old son to keep well away for safety's sake. This is a lot safer and easier, and quicker too. It works very well on fish fingers, chicken breasts and salmon fillets. It didn't cook sausages right the way through - because the temperature can't be varied it cooked them too quickly on the outside and they were still slightly pink on the inside. I tried grilling sliced aubergines and red peppers, both of which took a long, long time - much longer than under a conventional grill, though fish and meat seem to do quicker - dunno why... I tried doing cheese on toast, i.e. putting the upper plate on its special hinge so that it doesn't touch the food, but it was sooo slow that I gave up and just made a two-slice of bread cheese toastie instead - works well for toasted sandwiches. It's extremely easy to clean - I spray it with vinegar and wipe off with kitchen roll. I'm using it nearly every day.
