This review is from: The Three Stooges Collectors Box Set (Digitally remastered in colour) (Colour/Swing/Extreme/Greatest/Live) [DVD] (DVD)
The Three Stooges is one of the greatest slap stick comedies of all time.
I'm 32 year olds and was introduced to the three stooges by my Godfather who also introduced me to all the B-movie westerns (Hop-a-long cassidy, Roy Roger, Gene Autry, etc) when i was a kid, even when they came onto tv i sat and watched every single one laughing and crying my eyes out.
This box set is good if you are a true three stooges fan.
There is some rare footage of them when they first started out as "Ted Healy and his Southern Gentlemen" a stage act before hitting the big screen all the way to their last appearances.
There is one disc with 4 Three stooges shorts which are in color but the down side is only one has Curly (who i thought was the funniest) the rest star Shemp who was know as the ugly Stooge due to his face pulling.
This is the main reason i gave it 3 out of 5 stars as the 4 shorts was funny but not their best. The Best one i think was Pop Goes The easel
The 4 shorts are
Disorder in court
Sing A Song Of Six Pants
Malice in the Palace
I have read some reviews on some web sites with some people asking who The Three Stooges was and one asking why Curly was replaced by Shemp.
so i thought i would break it down to this
The Three Stooges composed of.
Moe Howard, brother Curly Howard and Larry Fine.
Shemp Howard replaced brother Curly, when Curly suffered a debilitating stroke in May 1946.
comedian Joe Besser replaced Shemp after his death from a heart attack in November 1955
Joe DeRita (nicknamed "Curly Joe") replaced Joe Besser by 1958.
So i hope you enjoy this boxset as much i did.
