3.0 out of 5 stars brides of dracula blu ray, 23 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Brides Of Dracula (Blu-ray + DVD) [1960] (Blu-ray)
Picture quality of this BLU RAY is outstanding and in the film screen anamorphic ratio of 2.1 and the colours really come to the fore and the grain has been left alone in the digital processing which enhances the overall cinematic look....sound is fine and clear.....BUT for those with a HARD OF HEARING problem I have to report that there are NO SUB TITLES and this is NOT acceptable and Final Cut have made a serious error of judgement in presuming everyone has good hearing.....it cheapens the product...

Yes, I have held back until the ratio is confirmed. Hopefully the same as the US dvd release :)

Confirmed elsewhere as 2:1 with screenshots to prove it. Not original aspect ratio but otherwise looks very good. A shame it isn't perfect. I'll have to wait until my own copy arrives to see if it's still a good version to watch despite the cropping.

Is this cursed never to get a UK release in the proper ratio?

I have ordered them both now. Shame about the aspect ratio, here is hoping The Mummy does not suffer the Hammer BD curse.

I think it is 1.66.1 anamorphic and EVIL of Frank is 1.85.1

It can't be. The screenshots I've seen show it as 2:1 within a 16:9 frame. Unless the DVD version in the same set is a different copy???
