Great, thoroughly enjoyable yet slightly flawed,
This review is from: Fallout: New Vegas (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
Well I've just completed the newest addition to the fallout series after around 60 hours of game play. The first thing that struck me about the game during my first couple of hours was the sheer size of the map, if you thought the fallout 3 map was big then you'll be blown away by this.
Unfortunately during the first couple of hours I was also subjected to several glitches (yes most of these were rectified by a patch within the first couple of weeks of release but still), however this didn't ruin the overall experience for me.
To move back onto the highlights; I found that when playing fallout 3 there was just something missing that I struggled to put my finger on...I didnt feel like that about New Vegas and I felt that it gave a bit more of a heads up to the original two. Some of the characters in New Vegas actually refer to towns and people from the original such as "New Reno" and "The master" to name a couple. I was a bit more impressed with the soundtrack this time as well, again some of the music from the originals which was nice. Nightkins were a nice addition as well.
Many people have rated this game badly because of corrupted save games. Fortunately I haven't had any problems with that or the game crashing. All in all; I've enjoyed the 60 hours I've put in and will probably be playing the game through again in the future.
The game would definitely be worth 5/5 if it wasn't for the glitches...radscorpions stuck below the actual land surface, an area in a subway that acted as a portal to a random area of the map :-S, glitches in the atmospheric conditions etc. Nothing particulary major, just more irritating than anything.
