This is one of those albums that makes you wonder why you haven't heard of it before. Released in 1991 and immediately buried by the record company, in part due to the bands (admittedly foolish) refusal not to change their name to something good. The album itself however is an incredible piece of work. Impeccably produced by Smiths producer John Porter it's halfway between the Rolling Stones and Radiohead, somehow without sounding much like either. The band are all excellent musicians and the songs twist and turn, managing to be catchy without being repetitive. I really can't recommend this highly enough- if you have any interest in any form of rock music at all, this should feature prominently in your collection. It's one of the best in mine. Be warned though- they band did a couple of subsequent albums under the marginaly more sensible name 'copyright'. Unfortunately they're rubbish.
